Summer is finally upon us, and we dare to dream about packing our suitcases and heading off for some much needed sun, sand and sensational experiences.

Whether you are a couple, a family or a group of friends, the Canary Islands are a perfect destination to accommodate everyone’s holiday wish list.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway, an activity filled trip, a lazy beach holiday or a chance to explore the natural beauty of these diverse islands, then there will be something to whet your appetite.

The Canary Islands have so much to offer, from long stretches of white sands, to sculptural volcanic and lush green landscapes, activities galore and a myriad of 5 star luxury hotels and resorts to experience.

This volcanic archipelago in the Atlantic ocean consists of several islands and Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are the most popular destinations each with their own different experiences, as well as offering a multitude of quality accommodation.

For a true luxury experience, the iberostar hotels are located all across these islands with all inclusive indulgence to be had. With external Jacuzzis’, swimming pools, spa, sauna and treatment rooms and a plethora of activities to pass the time you will be pampered from the moment you arrive and many hotels offer Balinese beds to soak up the sun at the poolside.

There are some great destinations for 5 star all inclusive holidays for adults only and nowhere is a better place to start than the largest island Tenerife, named “Island of the Eternal Spring” due to the constant year round temperature.

The spectacular dolphin display at Loro Parque, Tenerife.

Tenerife is awash with stylish hotels, natural beauty in the ‘jungle-esque’ forests in the Anaga mountains, luxury golf courses and pretty villages, all set beneath the looming Mount Teide, the third tallest volcano in the world and set in Teide National Park.

An excellent day out is the 33 acre zoo at Loro Parque, with a diverse range of animals including Western gorillas, jaguars and Galapagos tortoises. There are also daily sea lion, orca and dolphin displays.

Year round sunshine means that Tenerife is always the perfect place to soak up the sun’s rays, relax in the warm waters, and chill out on one the soft sandy beaches, many of which have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival is a fantastic way to soak up the Spanish culture watching street performers and listening to bands. These celebrations last around ten days and if you have the opportunity would offer a fantastic time for an adult only trip, to really take in the fun and festivities that Tenerife has to offer.

Most hotels are located on the beach and are never too far from the chance to head into the City Centre to experience the bars and clubs of Tenerife at Night.

The Grand Hotel El Mirador is one of the best five star spa hotels in Tenerife on the Southern side of the island. This iberostar hotel is a one minute walk from the beach, and is surrounded by the clear waters of the Playa del Duque beach.

Here you can sample a volcanic hot stone massage, or relax under the light sensation of chromotherapy. The hotel itself is an adults only hotel, for those aged 16 and over.

With it’s stunning architecture and fantastic ocean views and with additional facilities including a fitness room, a pool and good proximity to excellent golf courses, it is an oasis of luxury.

Fuerteventura has some stunning volcanic landscapes.

Fuerteventura boasts some of the Atlantic’s best beaches and the whole island has been designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve due to the spectacular volcanic landscapes and over 50km of pristine white beaches.

The 24 volcanoes of the island create ample opportunities to explore the ferocious landscapes that nature provides us with, and with carnivals and the cultural wealth of Fuerteventura, there is a lot to experience.

Caleta de Fuste has some excellent restaurants and the delicious cuisine, based upon fresh local seafood, is best eaten at a beachside location overlooking the ocean – bliss!

Lanzarote’s desert like landscape enjoys a year round warm climate as do much of the Canary Islands. For those of you who enjoy the beach, Lanzarote is a sunseekers paradise, with white, black and golden sands adorning the coastline.

There are a mixture of tranquil waters and bold large waves, perfect for windsurfing and other watersports, and Lanzarote is noted for its’ natural beauty as it marries the landscapes, volcanoes and endangered species, and attractions include the caves at Cueva de los Verdes, Timanfaya National Park and tours of the islands vineyards.

With a myriad of five star hotels on beach front resorts there is plenty to see and do. Many hotels offer the chance to try scuba diving to create wonderful memories.

The Canary Islands have a lot to offer, from gastronomic experiences to exploring nature, engaging with wildlife and experiencing the crystal clear cool waters beneath the Spanish sunshine.
