New Zealand escape Annandale named Australasia’s leading experiential luxury property

With less than two years since Annandale opened its doors to welcome guests, the New Zealand luxury property has received world recognition and top honours at the 2015 World Travel Awards ceremony, hosted at the Intercontinental Grand Stanford in Hong Kong.

Named Australasia’s Leading Experiential Luxury Property, it was also nominated for the even bigger gong of World’s Leading Experiential Luxury Property, with winners voted for by travel and tourism professionals worldwide.

Located in an area of outstanding beauty away from the usual tourist trail,  Annandale is an iconic coastal farm escape offering four award-winning luxury villas with relaxed Kiwi-style informality.

Developed in 1843, it was one of the earliest and most renowned farms in New Zealand’s South Island, with 10 kilometers of spectacular and rugged coastline, 4,000 acres of land, 500 cattle and between 7,000 and 14,000 sheep.

The destination’s aim is to breed the finest stock through sustainable farming practices for the most delicious meat and best quality wool, while providing world-class luxury accommodation, farm-to-table cuisine and uniquely authentic experiences for guests – and so far, it seems to be doing a sterling job of both.

The latest accolade recognises the destination’s commitment to excellence, and owner Mark Palmer said that he was thrilled with the result:

“We are delighted to receive this luxury experiential World Travel Award, and congratulate the entire team at Annandale for ensuring every guest leaves wishing they could have stayed longer.

“It is an honour to be recognised with the other world class properties nominated, and especially to be able to showcase the luxury product and amazing experiences available in New Zealand.”

Hailed as ‘the Oscars of the travel industry’, World Travel Awards celebrates its 22nd anniversary this year and is acknowledged across the globe as the ultimate travel accolade. The prestigious awards programme aims to celebrate those organisations that push the boundaries of industry excellence, with Annandale just one of the many to impress at this year’s event.

World Travel Awards President Graham Cooke spoke to congratulate all winners on the night. He added:

“I look forward to greeting many of them in December, when we will celebrate our Grand Final 2015 in Morocco.”
