Deep in London’s Fitzrovia, down a quiet street not far from Regent’s Park is The Grafton Arms.
It is a quintessential British pub with a modern twist. Upon entering your eyes can be drawn to the quirky dog portraits on the wall and the gorgeous patterned ceiling tiles.
There are 11 boutique bedrooms accessible via a separate lockable entrance so that you don’t have to go through the main entrance of the pub. The rooms are are divided over four flights of stairs past the rooftop garden, an ideal place to enjoy summer drinks.
The modern double bedrooms come complete with bespoke mirrors, vintage chandeliers, distinctive feature walls and a stocked mini bar. Crisp linens, opulent fabrics and walls washed with calming greys and creams, make each room a soothing sanctuary.
Bright and modern en-suites provide the ultimate space to relax and unwind with reviving rainforest showers and spacious bathtubs.
Our room (number 6) was cosy, contemporary and its focal feature was a large chandelier. Given its location it is surprisingly quiet even with the windows open.
It’s suitable for leisure goers and business breaks alike, on this occasion, we were visiting London for personal reasons, and the comfy king size Posturepedic bed at The Grafton Arms made a perfect stop over point for us.
For visitors to London , the pub is just a short walk away from London’s most prized attractions including the British Museum, Oxford Street and the West End theatres.
Although we already had dinner plans, food at The Grafton Arms is a modern pan-Asian menu – a twist on the typical gastropub offering, with dishes created by Executive Chef Jan Wang.
Tempting small plates include steamed pork bao buns, crispy duck rolls and tiger prawn tempura, whilst mains feature lamb rendang curry and pan-fried miso salmon. Maybe next time!
Come rain or shine, those looking for some al fresco action can escape to the secret all-weather rooftop terrace complete with canopy-covered seating, where you can while away an afternoon with a chilled glass of wine, cold beer or graze on a selection of bar snacks.
In the morning guests can opt to start their day with a continental breakfast hamper of fresh juices and buttery pastries delivered direct to the room. Just make sure you leave your order on the door handle.
The Grafton Arms is also available for exclusive take-overs, making it ideal for small wedding parties and groups looking for the ultimate boutique basecamp.
