Salinda Resort Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam: The Next Hot Island Getaway

By Glenn Harris   |

Phu Quoc is a place that most may not have of heard yet. Give it a few years and it will be the island holiday that everyone is talking about. Phu Quoc is a tropical island similar to Phuket, Bali, or a Caribbean island. Think white sand,  palm trees, perfect weather, and friendly people.

It was an area known mainly to backpackers and other budget travellers until  2012 when the first five star luxury hotel opened on the island. It was the Salinda Resort Phu Quoc Island which has been welcoming well-heeled guests since it opened those five years ago.

Once guests arrive at the Salinda Resort Phu Quoc Island they can expect a tropical holiday that ticks all the boxes. A fantastic location along Phu Quoc’s famed Long Beach, fine accommodations, great service and an exceptional culinary experience.  Those are the reasons why it was voted one of the top 5 luxury hotels in Vietnam by TripAdvisor in 2017.

As guests enter the resort they will be impressed with the wide open spaces. There’s a large infinity pool facing the beach lined with chaise longues under umbrellas. The resort is festive with a lively scene as guests flow from the beach to the pool and the spacious beach bar and casual dining restaurant.

There are 121 rooms, suites and villas at the Salinda Resort Phu Quoc Island. The design is contemporary with each room situated with terraces and balconies to take in views of lush tropical gardens or of the azure ocean. The resort recently opened its sky suite wing of villas offering another level of luxury in which to relax and spread out.

The villas have a wonderful décor with teak wood and bamboo accents, silk touches, and local art.  There is an expansive outdoor living space with comfortable furnishings. It’s a perfect place to chill out in the garden or enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the mesmerizing sunsets to the west.

Indoors there is a state of the art entertainment system and comfortable sitting areas and desk. The bathroom is impressive with it’s stylish décor and a deep soaking tub positioned near the sliding door allowing for an uber romantic indoor/outdoor bath.

The level of friendly service was exceptional in the villas. A nightly tradition provided a wonderful box of treats from the culinary team with an almond biscotti, chocolate and truffle treats each night.

To satisfy the appetite, there are two dining options with their all day dining restaurant and the Italian fine dining. Breakfast each day was a treat with an extensive buffet of international cuisine. Upon arrival, guests are offered a glass of sparkling Champagne while live piano music adds to the ambience. It’s truly an elegant way to begin the day.

There are countless activities to do on the property from riding bicycles, to endless water sports, and tours around the island. In the evenings the place to be is the lounge with its two storey high atrium and impressive oval bar. Each night a live band belts out popular hits as resort guests hit the dance floor.

There’s also plenty to do around the island and some fascinating sightseeing. The Salinda Resort Phu Quoc Island is located in the prime tourist area, Long Beach, so there’s a lot to do in the area. One “must do” highlight is the Phu Quoc Night Market with its hundreds of fresh seafood eateries with the most exotic options from snakes, frogs, and snails of every type. There’s also some great fish and lobster waiting for the grill and your table.

Phu Quoc is the new must visit destination in South East Asia. What was once only known to locals and budget travellers is now the place for the luxury traveller. For families or romantic couples, The Salinda Resort Phu Quoc Island is a great option to take in all the wonderful experiences the area has to offer.
