Langham Hospitality Group has announced that The Langham, Gold Coast will be opening to the public in 2022, slightly later than originally planned.
The Langham, Gold Coast, the group’s third luxury hotel in Australia, was scheduled to open at the end of 2021 but delays have meant a later than expected launch date. It will feature 169 well-appointed rooms and suites. The group will also manage the Jewel Residences, managed by Langham, which consists of 170 serviced apartments designed and built to the award-winning brand’s exacting specifications.
With their prime location on the beachfront in Surfers Paradise, the hotel and serviced apartments are in the central and tallest of the three landmark towers of the Jewel development. It is the first and largest development with direct beach access to be built in the coastal city within the last 30 years.
The Langham, Gold Coast is located between the ground and 20th floors while the residences are on the 22nd to 49th floors which promises stunning city and ocean views.
The grand structure and shimmering exterior of the Jewel are reminiscent of three colossal quartz crystals, visible for miles from the Nerang River to the Gold Coast hinterland. The crystalline forms of the towers are inspired by the gemstone shards discovered in the region which dates back thousands of years.
“We are excited to bring quintessential Langham service to the Gold Coast very soon,” says John O’Shea, general manager of The Langham, Gold Coast. “The Langham is renowned for its exceptional hospitality, and when our hotel opens in 2022, we look forward to taking modern coastal luxury to new heights.”
From the deluxe room to the elegant chairman suite, The Langham, Gold Coast has a range of accommodation to suit guests on corporate or leisure stays. Upping the ante on the suite stakes, all 32 suites at The Langham feature an impressive 180-degree uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean.
Developed by AW Holding Group, the appointed architects for The Langham, Gold Coast and the Jewel are DBI Design and US-based Oppenheim Architecture + Design respectively. The interior design firm for the hotel is Sydney-based Studio Aria which took the inspiration of the design concept from the prime coastal location and the nearby national parks and hinterland.
The colour palette of the hotel interiors distinctively reflects the ‘coast meets city’ theme, with its soothing blend of teal, azure and tan shades derived from the local flora and fauna. The salt and sun bleached timbers, metal and glass materials give a natural yet contemporary finish which seamlessly integrates with, and complements, the modern architecture.
The Langham, Gold Coast is also positioned to be the new social centre of the local community with the introduction of new dining and lifestyle experiences.
The culinary journey at The Langham, Gold Coast will be a gastronomic dining experience that will suit every discerning palate. The property will feature restaurants including 26 and Sunny, a casual ‘grab and go’ café, Akoya for all day dining, a pool bar and a podium sky terrace with the Coral Moon bar overlooking the ocean.
Headlining the culinary offerings will be T’ang Court, the signature Cantonese restaurant which will extend the prestigious reputation of its Michelin-starred counterparts at The Langham hotels in Hong Kong and Shanghai. The restaurant will feature two private dining rooms which are ideal for exclusive events while the main area seats 90 guests.
A tradition, made famous by The Langham in 1865, is the signature afternoon tea served at Palm Court, the lobby lounge and bar. Modelled after its namesake at The Langham, London which was the first grand hotel to serve this delightful presentation, The Langham, Gold Coast will set the definitive standard in serving stylish and elegant afternoon teas in the city.
For a more casual dining experience, the all-day dining restaurant serves international cuisine, and sun-worshippers may lounge at the pool bar and the 80-seat outdoor bar which boasts a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.
On the wellness front, Chuan Spa will offer treatments inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) philosophies in a tranquil, meditative setting. This 500-square metre spa will offer seven private treatment rooms as well as a health and beauty centre and a fully equipped fitness centre, an indoor free form and outdoor swimming pool.
As the perfect setting for weddings, conferences, meetings and special social or corporate events, The Langham, will showcase a 628 square metre ballroom with an additional five meeting rooms.
The Jewel Residences, managed by The Langham, is perfect for guests who place a premium on bright, sunshine-soaked space with generous living and dining rooms as well as well-appointed kitchens. All guests staying at the residences also have full access to the hotel’s facilities. These spacious apartments feature private balconies with phenomenal sunrise and sunset views that face either the city or the ocean. Suitable for couples, families or big travel parties, the luxurious serviced apartments offer one, two, three and four bedrooms options.
“The Langham hotels are globally recognised for their exceptional intuitive service, contemporary art collections, award-winning culinary expertise and signature pink accents, and we are delighted to partner with The Langham to bring these unparalleled experiences to the Gold Coast,” says Bryan Ge, business director of AW Holding Group.
The Langham, Gold Coast is the newest addition to the group’s properties in the Australian portfolio, which currently comprises two luxury hotels in Sydney and Melbourne.
