Based in one of Canary Wharf’s most iconic buildings, and Europe’s tallest residential apartment tower, you’ll find Cove, a modern block of serviced apartments just yards from the water’s edge.
The location is convenient for all kinds of reasons. Firstly transport; the doors to Cove are less than a five-minute wharf-side walk from the nearest underground. Come work or play, Cove is also in a prime location, whether you’re exploring some of Canary Wharf’s bars, restaurants and shops or, if the trip is more corporate focused, heading to and from the hub’s major offices.
The block opened in 2022 and since then has become a staple part of Canary Wharf’s hospitality scene. Offering 162 apartments, Cove is a home from home, looking out for guests’ wellbeing and comfort. For the exercise lovers, there’s a high-spec gym and yoga studio and that’s not to mention the surrounding wharf walks which would make stunning running routes.
Apartment
The apartments have been practically and stylishly furnished so guests can fully relax whether there for a short or long stay. The kitchen area is open and well equipped and the lounge space is enticing and relaxing. So often serviced apartments can feel clinical and unwelcoming, but this is the kind of space you want to host in – the colour scheme is warm and the furnishings are stylish. Good news then that the sofas double up as sofa beds allowing guests to host family and friends.
If you’re lucky enough to be the one staying at Cove, you’ll enjoy the king-size beds which are supremely comfy with plush bedding. Despite being in the heart of a busy area, by night it’s silent making for a solid night’s sleep. How many London hotels can offer that luxury?
It might seem like a silly thing to say, but everything at Cove runs efficiently, from the check in to the rooms smart temperature control, smart TVs, and super-fast private Wi-Fi. This is a space that’s been carefully designed.
Smart TVs aren’t the only source of entertainment, the building also offers a private dining area, roof terrace and winter garden, which provide stunning skyline views across the capital. If you’d rather enjoy the views in private, rest assured each apartment boasts a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the South Dock, which makes for a gorgeous spot to pop open a bottle of bubbly. Oh, and your dog is welcome to come along for the stay too.
We stayed at Cove for two nights and couldn’t have found it more convenient. Before checking in we stocked up on goodies from the local Marks and Spencer and enjoyed a chilled wine and tapas evening in the apartment. Joy Crookes on the smart speaker, with a Wharf sunset in the background, what’s not to love?
For breakfast, we headed to the nearby Neama deli, a local Italian kitchen serving indulgent pastries loaded with cheese and ham. Highly recommend for a Saturday treat.
We weren’t blessed with great weather on the second morning of our stay but that ended up being a blessing in disguise. To stay sheltered we headed to the Museum of London Docklands – now one of my favourite museums in London. If you’re fancying something a little different, I highly recommend spending a few hours there delving into fascinating stories of Londoners through videos, articles and more.
In a nutshell
For a home away from home, the Cove at Canary Wharf is perfect. Modern, stylish and practical too, it’s the perfect base if you’re looking for accommodation with more amenities than a hotel, and with more space too.
