Planning an extended stay in the capital? The stylish and sophisticated Other House is a home away from home for affluent visitors to South Kensington, London, and is ideally located close to Hyde Park and Knightsbridge. It’s also on the doorstep of some of the city’s most iconic cultural landmarks – making it the perfect place to base yourself when you’re planning on sticking around for a while.
Taking a strong stand on environmental responsibility, The Other House is designed with guests’ physical and mental well-being in mind. The house itself has been sustainably built, operations are responsibly managed, and natural products are used wherever possible throughout. Think low-carbon architecture, British artisanship, recycled packaging, the freshest local and seasonal produce, and live energy tracking on the custom-made app, all making it a great choice for environmentally conscious travellers who are keen to make the right choices without the need to compromise on luxury.
With tree-filled courtyards and green roofs, The Other House sits amidst a serene sanctuary, offering a much-needed sense of calm in the heart of the city, where you can relax, restore and simply enjoy just being.
A residents’ club for people going places, The Other House brings a sense of adventure and discovery that is undoubtedly one of the many things about it that keeps regular guests coming back for more. Exuding a quintessentially London vibe whilst showcasing the very best in British craftsmanship and award-winning design, here, you can live as a resident for as long as you’re in town.
Accommodation
Guests can choose from a range of Club Flats, all of which include a beautifully designed bedroom, a separate living space and modern kitchen, with unique features tailored to the individual, group, or family to ensure a smooth and seamless stay. As residents, guests can enjoy exclusive access to the Private Club, Hogsmire Lounge, the Keepers Room Private Bar, and the Vitality Pool, which, as the name suggests, features a stunning pool area, sauna, steam room, and experience shower – and the property’s high tech gym.
Unlike a traditional hotel, residents at The Other House are in control of their stay through the bespoke mobile app. Check in, open the front door to your Club Flat, adjust the climate and lighting to just the way you like it, and choose to have your room cleaned whenever is most convenient for you. To make things even easier, you can also use the app to book sessions at the spa, visits to the on-site bars and restaurant, and order your food and drinks. Or, if you simply want to know what’s going on at the venue and in the neighbourhood, then all of the latest information is right at your fingertips, too.
If, like many guests, you decide you’d like to extend your stay at the house, then you can do that too, and when it’s finally time to leave, you can take care of payment and check out digitally. That said, there is always someone on hand to help you out should you need it – you can just chat to one of their friendly House Jacks, and they will be happy to assist.
Food and drink
In the evening, you can order signature cocktails in the glazed courtyard overlooking the pool, enjoy screenings in the sitting room, or try a sharpener in the moody, vaulted whisky locker. You can also book to enjoy screenings in the Den, which seats up to 10 people or enjoy a relaxing drink in the vaulted Keepers Room.
On the ground floor, which is open to the public as well as residents, the sophisticated Owl and Monkey cocktail bar and The Other Kitchen are both must tries. The latter serves up a daily changing menu centred around fresh, seasonal ingredients, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options to choose from alongside meat and fish dishes – and a show-stopping afternoon tea.
The trendy Owl and Monkey, meanwhile, is London’s latest cocktail hot spot, shaking up one-of-a-kind signature cocktails and equally exciting non-alcoholic alternatives. The entire menu, from the cocktails to the tempting selection of delicious small plates to accompany them, is underpinned by sustainability – driving an innovative use of local and seasonal produce. Think padron peppers in whipped feta, roasted aubergine in red miso, soy and sesame, and slow-cooked short rib of beef sliders, all washed down with an expertly mixed drink that fuses the classic with the avant-garde.
The vibe in the Owl and Monkey is buzzy, cool and elegant all at once, with jungle-inspired wallpaper, jade marble floors and exotic leaf-like lighting all coming together to create a tropical feel, yet in the most sophisticated of ways. Animal prints and patterns add a sense of edginess and modernity, with the open atrium offering up treetop views overlooking the residents and members’ club below.
Spa
The Other Space wellness retreat, which opened its doors in July of last year, is a place dedicated to self discovery and exploring the ‘other side’ of yourself, and is available to Other House guests to come and go as they please. Here, you’ll find an intriguing menu of spiritual, alternative and holistic treatments designed to help you rebalance and find a sense of calm once more, leaving you feeling rejuvenated, refreshed and restored.
This isn’t just your run of the mill spa; in fact, here, you’ll find everything from astrology workshops and shamanic healing to chakra cleansing, reiki and breathwork sessions, taking an all-encompassing approach to wellness and leaving no stone unturned in doing so.
There are individual and group sessions to choose from, depending on what you fancy, and each is run by one of The Other Space’s experienced and passionate holistic therapists. If you’re unsure where to start, then pay the wellbeing concierge a visit – they are on hand to devise a bespoke treatment plan just for you and to suit your individual needs, to ensure you get the most you possibly can out of the experience. Then, there’s the afore-mentioned vitality pool, which is a must for soaking away the stresses and strains of modern life – as well as a sauna, steam room, private yoga studio and even a meditation room.
To do
There are a host of modern, state-of-the-art facilities to take advantage of here, too – including a fully-equipped gym that’s kitted out with Peloton and assault bikes, a Concept 2 rower and an extensive range of free weights, amongst other things.
Of course, The Other House and The Other Space both also enjoy a prime location in the heart of central London, so you’ll be just a stone’s throw from a plethora of things to do outside of the properties. South Kensington is home to some of the best drinking and dining spots and luxury boutiques in the capital, and is well connected to just about anywhere else you might want to go in the city – so you’ll have no shortage of things to do, all right on your doorstep, whilst enjoying your stay at The Other House.
In a nutshell
Bringing a sophisticated yet fun-loving members’ club set-up to a new part of London, at The Other House you can expect to feel right at home from the moment you set foot in the door – and with a focus on the latest technological innovations, as well as health, wellness and sustainability, if you’re planning an extended stay in London then look no further. And London’s famed Covent Garden neighbourhood will welcome the brand’s next luxury residents’ club later in 2023.
