The official re-opening of historic hotel University Arms and destination Parker’s Tavern in August 2018, was one of the most exciting launches in the UK last year.
This followed a major two year, £80 million transformation by classical architect John Simpson and interior designer of the moment, Martin Brudnizki.
John oversaw the replacement of the building’s 1960s and ’70s extensions, while Martin mindfully recreated an environment reminiscent of school days past, lazy afternoons spent on the banks of the River Cam and the raucous revelry of students.
The hotel comprises 192 beautiful and ‘playfully’ designed rooms and suites, which feature individual libraries curated by Heywood Hill. The hotel is also home to an impressive library, underground valet car parking and fitness facilities.
In order to celebrate their first birthday, the hotel and restaurant will be treating guests to a series of special offers and benefits throughout the month of August 2019.
For one month only, guests can book one of the Martin Brudnizki designed rooms for just £111 per night, as well as the hotel’s sumptuous suites from £365 per night, in honour of the number of days the hotel has been open. Additionally, all hotel guests will be welcomed with special surprise birthday amenities in their rooms.
The celebrations continue at the hotel’s popular destination restaurant and bar, Parker’s Tavern. Anyone dining at the restaurant that shares an August birthday, will be gifted a signature ‘Bloomsbury Boozer’ cocktail.
The Bloomsbury Boozer is one of the bar’s most popular cocktails, made from Botanist gin, elderflower cordial, lemon raspberries and topped with a party hat of delicious raspberry foam – the perfect celebratory drink.
Parker’s Tavern is headed up by Chef Tristan Welch and is a quintessentially British tavern, serving creative twists on traditional dishes, made from locally sourced and seasonal ingredients.
